Welcome Coach Aaron!

We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our coaching staff and Southie Squadron, Aaron Landes.  Not only is Aaron the man! but he also has an abundance of coaching knowlege and experience that will make us all better athletes.  We are very fortunate and couldn’t be happier to have him as a part of our team.  By adding Aaron to our team of beastly savages, we will be able to provide more classes and more coaching for all of you.  Starting this week, we are adding 730pm classes on Tuesday and Thursday.  We are also adding a 9am class Monday – Friday and we are adding 20 minute technique classes at 4:40 M-F. Technique class will provide a closer look at breaking down the wods movements.  Show up 20 minutes early for the 5pm class and get some extra coaching on double unders, the clean, or whatever skills/movements that day’s wod may have. We have a few events going on the next few weekends with the Garage Games and the Scavenger hunt but in the near future we will also be adding l1/l2 classes, open gym and afternoon All Level classes.  Check out the google calendar here for all updates and stay posted to the blog for future updates.

Here is a little more about Coach Landes…

Aaron has been a coach his entire professioal life. After graduating from Brandeis University with a degree in sociology, where he also was played baseball and was team captain 2 years, he served as the pitching coach and assistant recruiting coordinator at Harvard University for 4 years. During his time at Harvard he earned his Masters in Education with a specialization in Physical Education and Coaching Principles from Boston University. He feels finding CrossFit was inevitable as it is a perfect blend of his love for fitness and need to compete every single day. Aaron loves teaching and helping people work to achieve their goals and believes CrossFit is the perfect forum for people to accomplish things they never thought possible, both physical and mental.
Aaron has been a Level 1 certified CrossFit coach for over a year, in additon to being a certified Sports Nutritionist through the International Fitness Association.  He competed with the CrossFit Fenway Affiliate Cup team at the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games Finals this past July.
