We are very sad to announce that our beloved Chris Harris is moving to San Fran in 2 weeks. He has received a great job opportunity that he is very excited about and honored to receive.  We will miss Harris greatly, he is one of a kind and it has been a pleasure having him on the CF Southie staff.

When Harris first started as a CFS member I didn’t get a chance to meet him right away. Goose and Retta kept telling me about this Chris Harris guy that was SO enthusiastic, a great athlete, and pretty much the nicest guy you could ever meet. Once I finally got to spend some time with Mr. Harris I discovered this all to be true, I knew he would be a perfect addition to the Southie Coaching Squad. Harris invests himself in the athletes he coaches and loves helping people. We can’t say enough good things about him.

We would like to do a CF Southie send off for Coach Harris. I know it is a holiday weekend, but we were thinking July 5th starting around 8pm. We have not quite decided where this should go down yet because we want to get an approximate head count. If you would like to participate please simply post to comments “in” and I will count on you being there on the 5th. Thanks guys!

    Hahaha goat ensalada- seriously though this was the ultimate goat salad and sweet Jesus it was hot! Absolutely fantastic workout though, felt good to sweat. Big shout to Chuck for his incredible coaching as always for the 730pm class. Squat snatch: 68×2, WOD: 4 even @65#, WOD2: 11.

    Amy & Goose (as a pair does this make you Geese?)- thanks for getting these comments rolling. Good way to keep us accountable for tracking our scores.

    How are we going to get through a New England winter without Harris’s weather reports!?!?

    Here’s my Harris story:
    My 2nd week at Southie we had ‘Christine’ for a WOD. I still didn’t really know anyone I was taking class with at the time. Harris was set up next to me, and of course he smoked me. I swear, he came off the box after his last box jump rep, must have glanced up at the clock, and then IMMEDIATELY turned his attention to me. He didn’t give me one of those half-assed good-job-keep-it-up’s while he was out of breath, he was in my face, psyching me up, counting down reps, and stayed doing that until I finished. He then turned his attention to someone else. I knew then that Harris was officially awesome, and that Southie was a good place that I ended up at.

    Squat Snatch: 145×2
    WOD1: 3 Rounds Rx
    WOD2: 6 Reps Rx
    I was all ready to do 115#, let myself get peer pressured into 135# but think I held my own. Wouldn’t have thought the burpees would wipe me out more than the OHS, but they did.

    Huge improvement in the squat. Nailed 115lbs x 2 with perfect form. I kept getting under 125 (4 times) but I only managed to stand it up once.

    WOD 1: 5+7 L2 95

      Should be noted that every time Nick missed, the bar was going behind him. He was FULLY COMMITTED to dropping under that bar. Dude turned a corner tonight, watch out.

    OK well I was mentally prepared going into this one that it was gonna be a major goat ensalada, which it was.
    BUT…had a VERY productive warm-up/practice session before class:
    1. Just 1 day after getting my first successful handstand hold against the wall, I was able to knock out my first (and second) HSPU for a nice set of 2! [5 of my 24 goals for 2013 have now been met!]
    2. Banged out a set of 15 consecutive kipping pull ups, besting my set of 10 from last week.
    Unfortunately, other than the fun stretches that Chuck led us through, the rest of the workout was a bit of a mess:
    Squat Snatch: 85×2
    WOD: 2+13 L1 & 12 or 13 power snatches
    But I’m OK with it. OH squats and squat snatches are just going to take some more time to get.
