Want to improve your rowing? Want to test yourself in the C.R.A.S.H. B’s this year?

Some words on the C.R.A.S.H. B’s from Eugene…
CRASH-Bs are a really fun event (this year it will be held on 02/17/2013), I’ve done it myself four times I believe. I’ve successfully convinced a couple of my friends to do it with me (Hanson, for one). I’d love to get the word out about this among the Southie crowd.Β  The 2k is an event that teaches you a lot about yourself and if people can’t be running, then they can at least be Erging, right?
Eugene has rowed for six years, four of them at the varsity collegiate level and he also coached for one year at the collegiate level.Β  He will be giving some quick and dirty Erging seminars, on Saturday’s at 11:30 every Saturday in January,Β  and dishing out rowing floater WODs leading into the event so people have that familiarity with how to do a 2k.
Post to comments if you are interested in the Seminars and/or rowing your bunskis off in the C.R.A.S.H. B’s this year.

I have never done any of these kinds of exercises. I am assuming that I will get a lot stronger because I will be activating muscles that I have never used. I am excited to see what it’s all about. http://Www.crossfitreflex.com

Barbell Complex: 125lbs (up 20lbs from when I last did this one back in early July)
WOD: 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 2 (L2 = 95lbs) Would have liked to get more rounds but on the bright side this was the first WOD I can remember where I didn’t scale back the # of dubs

And finally, would definitely be interested in attending a couple of rowing seminars in January.

I’m in! I rowed last year for the first time and had a blast. This year I’ll be one of the younger ones in my age group – always a perk. It’s one of the few activities where my height is a bonus. Pull ups – suck. Rowing – super!

Hey everyone, it’s great to see so much interest in the rowing 101 class already!

Since the first Saturday is still one week away I think I’ll begin to collect emails + contact info now. Shoot me a quick email at [email protected] with “rowing 101” in the subject line (I don’t expect any blurb or introduction; an empty email body is perfectly acceptable) or just hit me up on facebook (I’m friends with Crossfit Southie, that’s probably the easiest way to find me). This way I can send a reminder around this time next week to come to the class!

    Let’s see if tagging people alerts them to this message… @c73fadf9265b1ddc09c5067da60d6d44:disqus @8b8cbf69f788041b16505ac9a00e5a15:disqus, @kaitlynemerick:disqus, @e88ae4867a5d1ce8702422b4a47516aa:disqus, @d248222e93a55e2443363c6c0eab5f4b:disqus, @facebook-543190283:disqus, @disqus_9lGTqEuc0c:disqus, @d2d44e2b85df28147e7037526ffed084:disqus, @618a2439ab70d1a70308141d9475674d:disqus

Just to throw some links out there for people who are curious:

Here’s the info page for the CRASH-Bs. It’s a $25 registration fee, gotta do it by mid-January, and it’ll take place in the Agganis Arena over at BU– http://www.crash-b.org/web/competitors/registration-info-2/

This should give you an idea of what the event looks like: http://youtu.be/v-ydP6ovQEA

This should give you an idea of what kind of beast mode that a 2k will bring out in you: http://youtu.be/d4OflmzVdOI

And just a few words to convince those on the fence: if anything, just come to the Saturday rowing seminars and learn how to really row! If you are planning on being competitive in the Open in March or just want to figure out some tricks to make erging less miserable, then you should stop by for a bit. The erg is a big mind game, and it can expand your mental toolbox because of the powerful ways it’ll translate to just about every pulling movement you do on a barbell.
