5th Annual FRC Champs!!

Paleo Challengers! Please write your final results on the paleo challenge white board in Southie Green so that we can calculate points, analyze benchmark improvements, and pick a winner!! Please do this by this by Wednesday evening. Winners will be announced on or before Thursday.

It gives me great pride to announce that our First Responder’s Challenge team of James Colvin (BPD), Chris Cunningham(National Guard), Matt Crane (BFD), James Melberg (Sheriff’s Department), and Kevin Cuomo (USMC) took home the 5th Annual First Responder’s Challenge championship on Saturday at Reebok CrossFit ONE!!!!!

All day the battle raged for first place between the top three teams coming into the winner take all finals – the reigning Boston Fire champs from CrossFit Florian, Hanson PD/K9, and our own CF Southie Shamrockers. With amazing performances from all of the competing teams, the day would be decided by the final WOD where each member had to complete: 300m row, 50m walking lunge, 20 overhead squats at 95 lbs, 25 jumps over a 24″ box, and 30 shoot throughs on the parallettes. After all had finished, the team had to complete a 200m buddy carry of one of the team members.

Our boys blew away the competition with a blistering time of 8:32; securing their right to the title. I could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication that these guys displayed over the past few weeks; your efforts were truly motivating and inspiring. Also, those from our own CFS community who gave up their time to make this event happen deserve recognition as well: Marcella, Kristen, Ashley, Will, Jim, Scott and Kristen Colvin, thank  you so much for volunteer your time to make this awesome day possible!

I was seriously moved by the almost tangible feeling of intense camaraderie and professionalism displayed by every one of the teams competing. The support shown by the local CrossFit community for these selfless and dedicated professionals could not have been more appropriate for the sacrifices they put forth every day for our well being.

Thank you to every single team who competed in the event – without your service our communities would not be what they are. Thanks to the Reebok CrossFit ONE team as well for hosting the event! Lastly, a big thanks goes out to Cindy, Keith, Chip and the rest of the Cynergy CrossFit family who have exerted so much effort over the past few years to make this event what it is, you guys rock!
